Application Design

An application was designed to capture the dancers Signature and share this with marketing and eventually the audiences.

On the landing page of the application the dancers can select their own profile. Or, browse through the Signatures of other dancers. The personal page of the dancer consists out of their signatures, their shared signatures and featured images of how their signatures are used. The latter two are integrated in the application to enhance the connection between the dancer and audience engagement activities.

When a new Dancer’s Signature is added the dancers are guided trough the three different layers this Signature contains: Dance + Experience Drawing + Story. Dance and story can be recorded with the iPad camera, but the true focus lies of the application lies on digitalising the experience drawing.

At first the dancer draws his or her signature with the just recorded dance as a guideline. One line, with speed, colour and form properties, is the result of this drawing. To add more qualities to the signature, the dancer is requested to annotate the signature. This can be done by drawing another line on top of the experience drawing. The more distant the line is from the first experience drawing, the more spacing it will show in the final signature. As final step the program generates both drawings together.

The final component of the Dancer’s Signature, the story, can be captured in different ways. Both the folder instructions as the application give suggestions for methods in doing so. These different methods were chosen since not every method suits every dancer/experience. Nevertheless the spoken versions, are clearly motivated, since this really helps for audiences to connect in the share phase.
